Trash, bulk waste and recycling must be stored out of view (rear or side of the dwelling) until scheduled collection. Bulk items placed by a private hauler may not go to the curb more than 24 hours before pickup, and receptacles must be kept neat.
Galloway Township Code § 267-16 governs preparation of trash and recycling for collection. Household trash, bulk waste and recycling must be stored out of view of residential properties until scheduled collections; residents who contract a private trash company for large amounts of bulk items may not place them at the curb more than 24 hours prior to scheduled collection. Homeowners' associations, multifamily complexes and qualified apartment buildings must provide an enclosed area for trash receptacles kept neat and clean and checked regularly for recyclables. Yard waste that is not containerized may not be placed at the curb closer than 10 feet from any storm drain inlet.
Improper bin placement violates Chapter 267 and is punishable by a fine up to $2,000, up to 90 days imprisonment and/or up to 90 days community service; each day is a separate offense.
