Beaverton, OR Animal Ordinances: Chickens & Livestock (2026)

BC Chapter 5.09 lets Beaverton residents keep chickens without a permit, but on tight terms. The birds must be kept on the owner's principal residence tenants need the landlord's written permission on a lot of at least 5,000 square feet holding a detached single-family home or duplex, with the coop no closer than 20 feet to a neighboring dwelling and never between the house and the front property line. No more than four hens are allowed per property, and no roosters are permitted at all. Chickens must stay in a secure, clean, predator-proof enclosure at night, and commercial breeding, egg sales, and on-site slaughter are all barred.
