Metro Code Chapter 8.04 applies throughout Davidson County. Dogs off the owner's property must be under physical control β voice control is not sufficient after a 2023 amendment. Running at large: $50 per animal per citation. Third violation: owner must install a fence. Fifth violation: animal impoundment by Metro Animal Care and Control (MACC). Hunting dogs in active chase/training with a responsible handler are exempt. Dogs may not damage public or private property while off-leash. MACC operates the county-wide animal control shelter and enforcement.
