Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency regulates wildlife feeding under TN Β§70-4-125 and TWRA Proclamation 00-14. Intentional feeding of deer and bears prohibited statewide. Nashville enforces through hubNashville referrals to TWRA.
Tennessee Code Β§70-4-125 and TWRA Rule 1660-01-18 prohibit the intentional feeding of wild deer and elk statewide, with a year-round ban in CWD-management counties (Davidson is not currently a CWD zone but TWRA monitors). Feeding black bears is prohibited under TN Β§70-4-126; violators face Class C misdemeanor charges. Metro Nashville has no separate wildlife-feeding ordinance but refers complaints to TWRA through hubNashville (311). Unsecured trash, compost, and pet food left outdoors can constitute unintentional bear feeding once warnings are issued. Urban coyote management follows TWRA guidance; feeding is strongly discouraged. Licensed wildlife rehabilitators are exempt.
TWRA citation: Class C misdemeanor up to $50 fine plus court costs and loss of hunting/fishing privileges. Repeat bear-feeding offenders may face Class B misdemeanor charges.
