Full Breakdown
Sec. 89-21(d) of the Lafayette Development Code defines "Personal services" as a business open to the general public that includes, among its examples, "pet groomers." Table 89-21-2, the Code's zoning Use Table, lists Personal services as a permitted (P) use in the Mixed-Use Neighborhood, Mixed-Use Center, Downtown, Commercial Mixed, and Commercial Heavy districts, and as an accessory (A) use in the Public/Institutional-Light and -Heavy districts. It is not listed for the Agricultural or Residential districts. Chapter 89 establishes these zoning regulations specifically for the City of Lafayette (Sec. 89-1(b)); Broussard, Carencro, Duson, Scott, Youngsville, and Milton set their own separate zoning.
Violations & Fines
Operating a use in a non-permitted zoning district is a civil code violation; LCG can fine violators up to $500 per offense, with each continuing day treated as a separate offense (Sec. 89-170).
