Section 151.006 states 'the National Electrical Code has been adopted by North Carolina and enforced by the county in accordance with such regulations.' Section 151.048(D) requires that 'no person shall commence or proceed with the installation, extension, or alteration of any electrical wiring without a written permit therefor from the Electrical Inspector,' exempting only wiring installed by or for an electrical public utility corporation for its own generation, transmission, distribution, or metering equipment. Applications go on Inspections Department forms under § 151.049, and § 151.052 lets the Inspector issue the permit once the proposed work complies with the code and the fee is paid. The § 150.04 fee schedule lists $60 for a 200-amp service, $90 for over 200 amps, a $60 minimum for other electrical work, and $80 for residential solar panels under the same Electrical heading. A permit expires under § 151.054 if work is not started within six months or is discontinued for 12 months.
