Violations & Fines
A building code violation may be pursued as a civil offense under § 1410.99, carrying a fine of $100 for a first violation and $150 for each additional one, or the maximum allowed under the Virginia Code, whichever is greater; each day a violation continues is a separate offense, though penalties for the same set of facts cannot be charged more than once every ten days or exceed $3,000 in total.
