Full Breakdown
The Land Development Code allows residents to repair and maintain their own domestic vehicles, pleasure craft, RVs and hobby vehicles as a permitted accessory use. Outdoor or partially enclosed work is limited to fluid changes, spark plug swaps, minor electrical repairs, tire rotation, and belt or hydraulic line replacement. Everything else must happen inside a totally enclosed structure, and body work or painting is prohibited entirely, indoors or out. Repairs are restricted to vehicles owned by or registered to the property's own resident. Commercial-vehicle repair is allowed only in zoning districts that already permit parking a commercial vehicle there.
Violations & Fines
Doing body work or painting at a residence, performing more than basic fluid/parts work outdoors, or repairing a non-resident's vehicle violates Sec. 6.11.83 and is enforceable by Hillsborough County Code Enforcement.
