Adults 21+ in Bristol County can grow up to 6 cannabis plants (12 per household) under MGL c. 94G Β§7. Plants must be enclosed and not visible from public areas.
Under the Massachusetts Adult Use of Marijuana Act (MGL c. 94G Β§7), adults 21 and over may grow up to 6 mature and 6 immature cannabis plants per person at their primary residence (maximum 12 mature plants per household). Plants must be grown in an enclosed, locked area not visible to the public from the street or neighboring properties. Cultivation in common areas of rental/condo properties is prohibited without landlord/association consent. Landlords can restrict growing through lease terms. Bristol County municipalities cannot impose stricter plant-count limits than state law but can enforce visibility, odor, and safety concerns through local nuisance bylaws. Home cultivators cannot sell β that requires a Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) license.
Exceeding household plant limit: civil penalty $100 to $300 for first offense (MGL c. 94G Β§13). Public visibility: local nuisance citation $100 to $500. Unlicensed sale: criminal felony under MGL c. 94C.
