Spartanburg County's Performance Zoning Ordinance allows political campaign signs on private property beginning 60 days before an election or referendum, and they must be removed within seven days after. Signs announcing candidates seeking public office or relating to any election or public referendum shall be allowed. Such signs shall be placed only on private property 60 days prior to the election or referendum, and removed within seven days after the election or referendum. These signs do not have to be set back from road rights-of-way.
Spartanburg County's sign ordinance has no dedicated garage-sale sign category. Yard-sale signs are treated as temporary signs: no portion of any sign may overhang or encroach on a public right-of-way, and signs of one square foot or less bearing no commercial connotation are exempt from the sign regulations.
