Washtenaw County has no countywide noise ordinance; hours are set by each city or township. In Ann Arbor, quiet hours run 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., and any unreasonably loud noise is prohibited at all times.
Ann Arbor Code Β§ 9:362
It shall be unlawful for any person to create, assist in creating, permit, continue or permit the continuance of any unreasonably loud, disturbing, unusual or unnecessary noise which annoys, disturbs, injures, or endangers the comfort, repose, health, peace or safety of others within the limits of the City of Ann Arbor.
The county sets no construction-hour rule. In Ann Arbor, construction, demolition, drilling and excavation are prohibited at any time on Sundays and legal holidays, and between 8:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Monday through Saturday.

There is no countywide barking-dog ordinance. Washtenaw County Animal Control (contracted to the Humane Society of Huron Valley) handles animal complaints, while Ann Arbor treats a barking-dog noise nuisance between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. as a Chapter 119 violation.

The county sets no leaf-blower rule. Ann Arbor bans gas-powered leaf blowers from June 1 to September 30 (effective 2024), and prohibits power equipment between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Daytime power equipment must stay under 90 dB(A) at the property line.

Operation, between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., of power equipment that does not produce a sound level exceeding 90 dB(A) beyond the property line of the property on which the equipment is operated.
The county sets no amplified-sound rule. Ann Arbor prohibits operating any loudspeaker, sound amplifier or PA system between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Non-commercial amplified speech is allowed 7:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.

Neither Washtenaw County nor its cities regulate aircraft noise. Ann Arbor's noise ordinance expressly excludes aircraft in flight or operating at an airport, and aircraft noise is governed by the FAA under federal law.

The provisions of Article I apply to all sources of sound except: (1) Motor vehicles ... in operation on a public right-of-way; (2) Aircraft in flight or in operation at an airport; (3) Railroad equipment in operation on railroad rights-of-way.
Washtenaw County does not zone or set industrial-noise limits; cities and townships do. Ann Arbor caps noise received at commercial (non-residential) property at 71 dB(A) daytime and 61 dB(A) overnight, with no separate industrial tier.

No person operating or in control of a parked or moving motor vehicle (including motorcycles and mopeds) shall operate, or permit the operation of, an electronically amplified sound system in or on the vehicle so as to produce sound that is clearly audible more than 50 feet from the vehicle.
