The City of Sonoma does not have a stand-alone juvenile curfew ordinance in its municipal code. Minors are still subject to California Education Code §48264 (daytime loitering / daytime curfew during school hours) and to county-level emergency curfews enacted under Cal. Gov. Code §8630 when the Sonoma County Sheriff invokes them.
Local code: A review of the Sonoma Municipal Code Title 9 (Public Peace, Safety and Morals) shows no codified general juvenile nighttime curfew ordinance. The City has historically relied on state law and parental responsibility rather than a fixed nighttime curfew. Daytime truancy curfew: Cal. Education Code §48264 authorizes peace officers and school attendance supervisors to arrest or assume temporary custody during school hours of any minor subject to compulsory education or compulsory continuation education who is found away from his or her home and absent from school without valid excuse. Emergency curfews: During declared emergencies (wildfire evacuations, civil unrest), the Sonoma County Sheriff or the Governor may impose temporary curfews under Cal. Gov. Code §8630 (Emergency Services Act) or Cal. Penal Code §409.5. Violation of an emergency curfew is a misdemeanor under §409.5(c). Parental responsibility: California Civil Code §1714.1 makes parents civilly liable for willful misconduct of a minor up to $25,000.
Daytime truancy violations under Cal. Educ. Code §48264 can result in the minor being taken into custody and returned to school; persistent truancy can lead to SARB action under §48263. Violation of an emergency curfew imposed under Penal Code §409.5 is a misdemeanor (§409.5(c)) punishable by up to 6 months in jail and a fine up to $1,000.
