St. Charles County, MO Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Section 250.030 does not name a single countywide closing time, and residents looking for one will not find it in the code. Subsection (A) says parks shall be open to the public every day of the year during designated hours, subject to restrictions authorized by the Director, and that the designated opening and closing hours for each individual park shall be posted therein for public information. The hours are therefore set administratively by the Parks and Recreation Director and published on site, park by park. The sign at the entrance you are using is the operative rule, and a schedule that holds at one County park does not carry over to another.

Subsection (D) supplies the prohibition. No person shall enter a County park, or any waterway, facility or area posted as "Closed to the Public" or during closed hours. Two separate triggers sit in that sentence. One is the clock: the posted closing hour for that park. The other is the posting itself, which lets the County shut a single boat ramp, shelter, trail, or stretch of water while the rest of the park stays open. A flooded waterway or a facility under repair can be closed on its own without closing the park around it.

Quiet hours are a third layer and run separately from closing. They apply from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. in all park areas, which reaches campers and anyone lawfully present after dark rather than only after-hours trespassers.

Enforcement is immediate and does not require a citation first. A Police Officer, Park Ranger, or Department employee may remove any person found in a park or in an area during closed hours or posted closed to the public. Being asked to leave and leaving does not by itself resolve the underlying violation, which the code treats as a chargeable offense.
