Sedgwick County, KS Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Sedgwick County Code Sec. 20-110(a) sets fixed public hours for the county's two named parks. , though the park superintendent can alter those hours for special events, or the board of county commissioners can change them by use resolution or written agreement; bike paths inside Sedgwick County Park are exempt and may be used at all hours. Northeast Sedgwick County Park runs on a sunrise-to-sunset schedule year-round instead of a fixed clock time. During whatever hours either park is closed, the code bars everyone from being on the grounds except park personnel, code enforcement officers, law enforcement officers, or a person specifically authorized by the board of county commissioners.

All other county parks, lakes, and recreational areas besides those two named parks are treated as open to the public at all times unless the county commission directs otherwise with reasonable public notice. Separate from the closing-time curfew, Sec. at any county park, lake, or recreational area, during which producing, making, or maintaining excessive noise is prohibited, a rule that applies even in the areas that stay open around the clock. The section also folds in related park-conduct rules enforced on the same after-hours logic: no tree trimming or cutting without the park superintendent's written permission, no damaging or defacing park property, no loitering in a restroom, and no selling merchandise without prior written permission.
