Lee County Ordinance 18-12 (as amended by 18-27) sets park rules. Under Section 4.1, except for emergencies and designated holidays, parks are open to the public every day of the year, with opening and closing hours posted at each park; no person shall remain in any closed park or section unless authorized by the Director. Section 8.7 bars operating vessels or mooring in park waters after closing. Section 10.1 provides that, except for authorized campers in designated camping areas, no person shall sleep overnight in any area of a county park, including beaches, lawns, fields, and wooded areas, and no one may sleep on park benches or picnic tables at any time.
Remaining in a closed park is a fine of about $100 (first), $300, then $500; sleeping violations run about $75/$150/$300. Section 4.5 violations can carry up to days in jail as county-ordinance offenses.
