Chester County parks open daily at 8:00 AM and close at sunset. Regional trails open a half-hour before sunrise and close a half-hour after sunset. Being in a county park after closing violates the Parks and Trails Ordinance.
Chester County directly operates its parks and trails and sets their hours by ordinance. Under the current Chester County Parks and Trails Ordinance (No. 2025-02, approved July 23, 2025), all county parks open daily at 8:00 AM and close at sunset year-round, closed only on Christmas Day. The Chester Valley Trail, Struble Trail, and Schuylkill River Trail open one-half hour before sunrise and close one-half hour after sunset. Posted sunset closing times shift with the season, from 5:00 PM in deep winter to 9:00 PM in midsummer. Alcohol is prohibited, and pets must be leashed.
Entering or remaining in a county park after closing hours violates the Parks and Trails Ordinance and can result in ejection from the park and a citation with fines set by the ordinance.
