Galt's Municipal Code contains no crypto-mining, bitcoin, or blockchain use category and no energy cap targeting mining. A warehouse of mining rigs draws power and produces heat and noise like a data center, so the Planning Division classifies it into the nearest use in Table 18.32-1 - Research and Development or Wholesale and Distribution (permitted by right), or a Telecommunications Facility (Minor Use Permit) - within the LM or M zone. Continuous cooling noise must stay within § 8.40.040: 50 dB(A) daytime and 45 dB(A) nighttime at the nearest home. Home-based mining is ordinary residential use, subject to the same property-line noise limits.
There are no crypto-specific penalties. A commercial mining operation outside the LM or M zones, or without a required use permit, is a zoning violation, and noise over the § 8.40.040 limits is enforced by the City.
