Menifee, CA Environmental Rules: Coastal Development (2026)

The California Coastal Act (PRC §30000–30900) governs only the statutorily-defined Coastal Zone, generally extending 1,000 yards inland from the mean high tide line (with broader inland reach in some areas up to the first major ridgeline or 5 miles, and a narrower seaward limit). The Coastal Zone is mapped by the California Coastal Commission under PRC §30103. Menifee sits at approximately 1,400 feet elevation in the San Jacinto Valley, surrounded by the Santa Ana Mountains to the west and the Diamond/Domenigoni Valleys to the south — well inland of any Coastal Zone boundary. Coastal Development Permits (PRC §30600) are required only for development within the Coastal Zone.
