Arapahoe County Land Development Code Section 12-800 regulates fence heights in unincorporated areas. Front yard fences are limited to 3 feet, side and rear yard fences to 6 feet, and commercial/industrial zone fences to 8 feet. Agricultural land is exempt.
Under LDC Section 12-800, fences in unincorporated Arapahoe County have specific height limits by location. Front yard fences cannot exceed 3 feet in height. Side and rear yard fences may be up to 6 feet tall, excluding hedges, but side yard fences cannot extend past the lot's front building line or the adjacent neighbor's front building line, whichever is closest to the rear lot line. A 16-foot minimum sight distance triangle must be provided at corners, and side fences must be set back at least 8 feet from corner property lines. Fences in B-3, B-4, I-1, or I-2 commercial and industrial districts may be up to 8 feet tall. Agricultural-zoned land (A-1, A-2, A-E) used for agricultural purposes is exempt from most fence regulations.
Non-compliant fences may face code enforcement action including orders to modify or remove the fence. Permit violations may result in fines.
