Compton Municipal Code Chapter 30 (Zoning), Sections 30-44.1 through 30-44.5 regulate fences and walls. Fences and walls less than 6 feet in height are not considered structures. Fence height adjustments not exceeding 1.5 feet along residential property lines may be approved to match average fence heights within 150 feet of neighboring properties. White picket fences are allowed in front yard setbacks of residential uses in all zones. Prohibited materials include corrugated/sheet metal, tin, chicken wire, fiberglass, plywood, used/salvaged materials (including tires and railroad ties), electrified fencing, razor wire, concertina wire, cut glass, and fabric or plastic sheeting. Where commercial or manufacturing zones abut residential zones, solid fencing is required.
