Compton Municipal Code prohibits parking or leaving vehicles on any street, alley, or public way for more than 72 consecutive hours. Abandoned vehicles may be removed by police or authorized city employees.
Under Compton Municipal Code, any vehicle parked or left standing on any street, alley, or public way for a period longer than 72 consecutive hours may be removed by any police officer or authorized regular city employee. Abandoned, wrecked, dismantled, or inoperative vehicles on private property also constitute a nuisance and are subject to abatement. Vehicles must be currently registered and in operable condition if stored on visible areas of private property. The Compton Police Department's parking enforcement unit handles abandoned vehicle complaints and enforcement.
Vehicles on public streets may be towed after 72 hours. Private property violations result in notices and potential abatement at the owner's cost.
