Compton enforces general street parking rules with a new preferential parking permit district in Richland Farms (Ordinance 2298). Vehicles are subject to the 72-hour rule and towing under California Vehicle Code.
Effective January 2, 2026, Compton enacted Ordinance 2298 establishing Compton Municipal Code Section 12-9, which creates a preferential parking permit district in the Richland Farms area (bounded by Alondra Blvd to the north, Greenleaf Blvd to the south, Wilmington Ave to the west, and Compton Creek to the east). All vehicles parked on city streets in this 24-hour restricted zone must display a valid parking permit. Any vehicle without a displayed permit is subject to citation. Parking permits are available at the Business License Division, Compton City Hall, 205 S. Willowbrook Ave, 7 AM to 6 PM Monday through Thursday. General street parking rules also apply citywide: vehicles must not be abandoned, must be properly registered, and peace officers may tow vehicles in violation per California Vehicle Code Section 22651(n).
Parking without a permit in the Richland Farms district results in citation. Abandoned or inoperative vehicles on streets may be towed.
