Downey Street Parking Limits Rules (2026): What You Need to Know

Downey Municipal Code Chapter 4, Article VI governs parking on public streets. No vehicle may remain parked in one location on any public street or alley for more than 72 consecutive hours. Vehicles must be moved prior to posted street sweeping days and times; failure to move results in a citation.

Additional parking restrictions include prohibitions on parking within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, within 25 feet of an intersection, in designated red zones, and in front of driveways. Parking on unpaved surfaces (dirt, gravel, or lawn) in front yards or visible areas of residential properties is prohibited. All vehicles parked on public streets must have current registration and be in operable condition.
