Racine County, WI Fence Regulations: Height Limits (2026)

The cap sits in Sec. 20-1114, in the county zoning code's height-and-area division, which applies only to the unincorporated county, the City of Racine and the county's villages set their own fence rules. Security fences may run along the property line in every zoning district except residential districts, but each is capped at 10 feet and must be an open style, such as woven wire or wrought iron, solid security fencing isn't permitted at that height. The code doesn't set a separate general height limit for ordinary residential yard fencing; only this security-fence standard and Sec. 20-1226's added conditional-use fencing requirements govern fence height under the zoning chapter. The zoning administrator enforces it under Sec. 20-12.
