Beyond the general permitted-materials list, New Rochelle's code restricts barbed wire, razor wire, and electrified fencing to certain limited commercial or industrial situations (and often requires them to be set back and above a minimum height). Temporary construction fencing must be promptly removed when work is complete. Properties in designated historic districts or individually landmarked properties require Landmarks Review Board approval for fencing that affects street-visible elevations.
