Fence permits are required in unincorporated Arapahoe County under LDC Section 12-800. Permit fees are set by the Board of County Commissioners to cover inspection and administration costs. Agricultural fences on qualifying land are generally exempt.
Arapahoe County requires fence permits for construction of fences in unincorporated areas per LDC Section 12-800. The regulations apply to all fences enclosing any lot or greater than 15% of a lot in any zone district. Permit fees are set by the Board of County Commissioners to cover costs of inspections and administration. A fence permit may also be required for fence construction within the floodplain per SEMSWA regulations. Agricultural fences on A-1, A-2, or A-E zoned land used for agricultural purposes are exempt from most permit requirements. Every fence must be maintained in good structural condition regardless of whether a permit was required.
Building fences without required permits may result in code enforcement action and orders to remove non-compliant fences.
