Fireworks are prohibited in all Wildland-Urban Interface areas within Bernalillo County, including East of Tramway Boulevard to the Sandia Mountains, the East Mountain Area, and areas within 1,000 feet of the outer edge of the Bosque. The Fire Code Official is authorized to seize and remove fireworks in violation. Aerial fireworks are illegal statewide under NMSA Β§60-11B. During drought or high fire danger, the Bernalillo County Commission can impose additional bans on all fireworks sale and use outside city limits. Consumer 'safe and sane' fireworks may be legal in some unincorporated areas outside WUI zones during non-ban periods.
