Fort Bend County Environmental Health requires every mobile food unit operating in the county to obtain an annual permit and certified food manager presence.
Under the Fort Bend County Regulations for Food Establishments, no person may operate a mobile food unit without a permit from the Environmental Health department. The complete Mobile Food Establishment Packet must be submitted with site plans, water distribution layouts, and a commissary agreement. A certified food manager must be on duty during all hours of operation. Mobile units cannot operate when their associated commissary toilet facilities are not open, and toilet facilities must include hot and cold pressurized water and meet Texas Administrative Code Title 25, Chapter 228 standards.
Operating without a permit or in violation of the regulations may result in permit suspension, embargo of food, and Class C misdemeanor citations with fines up to $2,000 per day under Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 437.
