Pearland requires every mobile food unit to register with the city, pass an annual Fire and Health inspection, and display a city-issued medallion before operating within city limits.
Under Chapter 11 (Food and Food Handlers), as amended by Ordinance No. 1559 effective May 28, 2018, mobile food units (MFUs) must hold a current state license, register with the City of Pearland, and pass an annual inspection administered by the Fire Department's Health and Environmental Services. Approved units receive a numbered medallion that must be affixed to the rear of the truck or trailer. The medallion is valid for one year from inspection. Operators must keep the medallion visible at all times when serving customers in Pearland.
Operating without an approved medallion is subject to fines under Section 11-42(2), and units may be ordered to cease operations until permitted.
