Selling on any public street or sidewalk is unlawful citywide except for permitted pushcarts in the Core Downtown Area. On private property, food trucks are permitted only in business and industrial districts, never in residential, office-institutional, or planned development districts.
Food trucks are permitted as an accessory use in the NC, LC, CC, MAC, MU, DT-1, DT-2, UC, BP, LI, and HI districts. Separations require 100 feet from the front door of any restaurant or outdoor dining area, 100 feet from any residential zoning district, 50 feet from a permitted mobile food vending cart, 15 feet from fire hydrants, and 15 feet from driveways, sidewalks, utility boxes, handicap ramps, and building entrances or exits. Lot size caps the count: one truck under half an acre, two up to an acre, three above. Food truck courts are allowed by right in LC, CC, MU, Downtown, LI, and HI.
Selling on a public street, sidewalk, or square without a Core Downtown Area permit is unlawful under Sec. 24-133. Zoning permits may be suspended or revoked for repeat violations.
