Englewood requires a permit from the City Clerk before holding any garage sale, with permit number displayed on signs and at the sale.
Englewood's garage sale ordinance makes it unlawful to conduct a sale without first obtaining a permit from the City Clerk. The application must include the name of the person or organization conducting the sale, the property owner's name, the location, and the dates and number of days. Permits must be prominently displayed at the time and location of the sale. Signs advertising the sale may not exceed 18 by 24 inches and must show the location, permit number, and the name of the person conducting the sale. All signs must be removed by 6:00 p.m. on the last day of the sale.
Conducting an unpermitted garage sale, or failing to display the permit and required sign details, is a municipal violation. Code enforcement may issue summonses with fines, and unpermitted signs are typically removed. Repeat unpermitted sales may be treated as commercial activity and trigger additional zoning enforcement.
