Nevada licenses child care facilities under NRS Chapter 432A and NAC 432A through the Division of Public and Behavioral Health (DPBH) Child Care Licensing. A Family Child Care Home may serve up to 6 children including the provider own, with only 2 under age 2. A Group Child Care Home may serve 7 to 12 children with a qualified assistant caregiver. Licensing requires background checks (state, federal, and DMV), 15 hours of initial training, CPR and first aid certification, annual TB testing, fire and building inspections, and a home safety assessment covering pool fencing, medication storage, firearm lock-up, and sleep safety.
