Nueces County has no home-business sign rule for unincorporated land. In Corpus Christi, a home occupation may display only one non-illuminated sign of not more than one square foot, and no other exterior evidence of the business is allowed.
Texas counties cannot regulate signs on private property in unincorporated areas, so no county sign rule applies to an unincorporated home business. Corpus Christi's Unified Development Code (Section 5.3.2.F) permits a home occupation only one non-illuminated sign of not more than one square foot, and otherwise bars exterior storage, displays, and other outward evidence that a business operates on the premises. Commercial signs in the public right-of-way are separately prohibited citywide. Robstown and Port Aransas set their own sign limits within their boundaries.
An oversized, illuminated, or additional home-occupation sign violates the Corpus Christi UDC and is subject to code-enforcement removal and citation; unincorporated tracts have no county sign penalty.
