Home occupations allowed as accessory uses in all residential zones. Must operate inside the dwelling, no outside employees, no exterior changes, no nuisance impacts.
Flower Mound's Land Development Regulations permit home occupations in all residential zoning districts as accessory uses. The home occupation must be subordinate to the residential use of the dwelling and conducted entirely within the principal structure or an attached garage. No exterior evidence of the business is permitted -- no exterior signage, exterior storage of materials or equipment, or modification of the building's residential appearance. The home occupation must not generate noise, vibration, dust, odor, fumes, or glare perceptible beyond the property line. Only residents of the dwelling may be employed in the home occupation; no non-resident employees are permitted on-site. Customer or client visits must be limited and must not create traffic volumes or parking demands inconsistent with the residential character of the neighborhood. Prohibited home occupations include auto repair, commercial vehicle storage, welding, adult entertainment, and any use requiring a commercial building permit or certificate of occupancy. A home occupation registration or acknowledgment may be required through the Planning Division.
