Pearland Code Section 13-17 prohibits weeds, grass, and rank vegetation from exceeding nine inches in height on any premises within city limits.
Under Pearland's offenses-miscellaneous chapter, owners and occupants must keep weeds, grass, and other rank vegetation cut to under nine inches at all times. The city issues a notice of violation and gives time to abate before mowing the property and assessing the cost as a lien. After two notices within a six-week period, Pearland may abate without further notice. The rule applies to vacant lots, occupied homes, rental properties, and commercial parcels alike, including curb strips abutting the property.
Civil and criminal penalties up to roughly $500 per day plus mowing costs assessed against the property as a lien.
