Redondo Beach has no fixed lawn-height number, but the municipal code treats noxious weeds and rank overgrown vegetation on private property as a public nuisance the City can order abated.
The Redondo Beach Municipal Code (Title 5, in the Weeds, Rubbish and Stagnant Water provisions) makes it unlawful to permit noxious weeds or rank vegetation to grow on a lot, and requires premises to be kept clean and sanitary. Rather than a numeric grass-height cap, enforcement is nuisance-based: overgrown or dead vegetation that creates a fire, vermin, or blight hazard can be declared a nuisance. Code Enforcement issues notices, and if the owner fails to cut or clear the growth, the City may abate it and bill the owner. Los Angeles County Fire also performs hazardous-vegetation (weed abatement) inspections on undeveloped and brush parcels.
Owner receives a notice to abate; failure to comply lets the City clear the lot and place the cost as a special assessment or lien on the parcel.
