Mililani Town homeowners along Meheula Parkway and Kuahelani Avenue need an Urban Forestry permit before trimming street trees under ROH Sec. 10-1.4.
Mililani Town's main corridors Meheula Parkway, Kuahelani Avenue, and Lanikuhana Avenue feature mature monkeypod, shower, and plumeria trees planted as part of the original master plan. ROH Sec. 10-1.4 requires a permit from the Department of Parks and Recreation Division of Urban Forestry before any planting, spraying, trimming, pruning, or removal of street trees. Homeowners may trim small branches overhanging their private yards but cannot cut into trunks, crowns, or public-side limbs without a permit. The MTA also coordinates community tree care on common areas, so private homeowners should distinguish which trees are in the city right-of-way versus HOA parks and walkways before any trim work.
Unpermitted trimming can result in citation and arborist-assessed restitution. Damaged street trees may trigger replanting orders at the owner's expense.
