There is no Burlington County weed ordinance for private yards. New Jersey towns regulate weeds, brush and overgrowth under their own property-maintenance codes; the county acts only on county roads, drainage and health-nuisance issues.
New Jersey delegates weed and brush control to municipalities through the general police power (N.J.S.A. 40:48-2), which lets a town order owners to cut brush, weeds and dead vegetation and, if ignored, do the work and charge the cost back. Burlington County does not issue weed citations for private lots. The county's related roles are limited: the County Planning Board reviews drainage on county roads, the Health Department addresses vector and nuisance conditions, and the Mosquito Commission (N.J.S.A. 26:9-13.3) treats standing water. For weed complaints, contact your municipal code-enforcement office.
Municipal: written notice to abate, then town-performed cutting billed to the owner (often as a lien) plus ordinance fines per day of violation.
