Full Breakdown

Only bicycles may travel in a marked bicycle lane; a car, truck, or moped cannot drive, park, stop, or stand in one, and no vehicle, bicycles included, may be left unattended there. Narrow exceptions let emergency, government, maintenance, and tow vehicles use the lane while on duty, and let drivers cross it briefly to enter a driveway, turn, or clear the way for an emergency vehicle. Anyone using an exception must still yield to cyclists and pedestrians in the lane. Separately, ROH § 15-18.8 requires bicyclists riding within a lane to travel in the same direction as adjacent vehicle traffic.

Violations & Fines

Blocking or parking in a bicycle lane carries a fine of at least $25 per violation under § 15-6.7(4).
