Full Breakdown

Traffic infraction detectors enforce steady-red-light stops countywide, with a $158 penalty, mailed notice, and a right to a hearing before a local hearing officer. A newer program under Article IX authorizes speed detection systems on roadways maintained as school zones; a violation is a vehicle going more than 10 mph over the school-zone limit during listed windows around the school day, enforced by the Sheriff's Office with a $100 fine and its own hearing process.

Violations & Fines

Red light infraction: $158 civil penalty, rising to a traffic citation if unpaid and no hearing requested within 60 days. School zone speed infraction: $100 fine per F.S. § 318.18(3)(d), plus up to $250 in hearing costs if the violation is upheld.
