In unincorporated Clackamas County, using loudspeakers, amplifiers, or PA systems unreasonably loud between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. near dwellings is a per se violation under Code 6.05.040(B)(6). Radios and stereos plainly audible 50 feet away are also prohibited.
Code 6.05.040(B)(6) bars unreasonably loud and raucous loudspeakers, amplifiers, or PA systems between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. near dwellings or noise-sensitive areas, or in public space where plainly audible across the property line. Separately, 6.05.040(B)(5) prohibits radios, TVs, stereos, and musical instruments that are plainly audible to others and unreasonably disturbing, or plainly audible 50 feet away in a noise-sensitive area. Permitted outdoor gatherings and dances are exempt (6.05.060(K)), as are organized events 7 a.m.-10 p.m.
Amplified-sound violations are citable by the Sheriff. After two prior citations in six months for the same source, the offending equipment may be seized as evidence.
