Section 14-27(a) makes it unlawful to operate any loudspeaker, sound amplifier, radio, stereo or musical instrument so that the sound is plainly audible inside another dwelling or at 50 or more feet from the device, particularly between 12:01 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. Section 14-27(b) separately targets gatherings: it is unlawful to allow plainly audible noise from a gathering of ten or more people during those overnight hours. The ordinance expressly exempts devices used at public parks or recreation fields, sporting events, school-sponsored activities on school grounds, and duly authorized parades, public functions or commemorative events. The county adopted this plainly-audible framework on 9/23/09.
Amplified-music violations are misdemeanors punishable by a fine of $100 to $500 under Sec. 14-27(h).
