Collier County's Table I caps sound by use: residential 60 dB(A) day / 55 night; commercial or tourist 65 / 60; manufacturing, industrial, and agricultural 75 dB(A) at all times. A sound must also exceed the ambient level by 5 dB to violate.
The Noise Control Ordinance (Sec. 54-92) measures sound at the affected property. Table I limits: Residential 60 dB(A)/72 dB(C) from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. and 55/67 overnight; Commercial or tourist 65/77 day and 60/72 night; Manufacturing/industrial and Agricultural 75/87 at all times. A sound only violates if it exceeds the Table I limit AND the existing ambient level by at least 5 dB(A) or 5 dB(C), measured over 60 seconds. Pure tones subtract 5 dB in residential areas; brief impulsive sounds add 10 dB in daytime.
Enforced with a Type 2 sound-level meter. Fines under Sec. 54-90: $100 first, $250 second, $500 third or more; repeat equipment may be confiscated after three violations.
