Coral Springs regulates industrial and commercial noise under Section 11-14 of the Code of Ordinances. Sound level limits are set by receiving land use designation in Table 1. When noise from industrial or commercial sources impacts residential areas, the most restrictive residential limits apply at the property boundary.
Section 11-14 of the Coral Springs Code establishes sound level limits based on the receiving land use designation, measured at or within the property line of the affected land use. When a noise source in an industrial or commercial zone can be measured in more than one land use designation, the pressure level limits of the most restrictive use district apply at that boundary. Individual octave band frequencies at 63, 125, 250, and 500 Hz must not exceed 65 dBA for residential and institutional impacts. The Land Development Code further requires that qualifying developments on B-3 or industrial zoning districts submit a study by an environmental consultant demonstrating that existing and proposed uses do not present a potential hazard or detriment to residential buildings from noise, glare, odors, smoke, vibration, or environmental contamination. Emergency generators in residential districts are capped at 72 dBA during power outages under Section 11-13(2).
Civil penalties up to $500 per violation under Section 1-8.1. Violations deemed a nuisance under Florida Statutes Chapter 60. Code Enforcement investigates complaints using ANSI S1.4-1983 standard sound level meters with minimum 10-minute measurement periods at the property line.
