Coral Springs regulates construction noise under Chapter 11, Sections 11-11 and 11-12 of the Code of Ordinances (Ordinance 2003-112). Construction activity is permitted weekdays 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM and weekends/holidays 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, provided equipment retains original sound-reducing features.
Under Section 11-11(6), noises from construction activity, tools, or equipment used and operated on a construction site are permitted between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM on weekdays and between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM on weekends and legal holidays. All tools or motorized equipment must be equipped with sound-reducing features originally part of the equipment, or other effective sound control devices of similar effectiveness. Equipment operated outside these hours without a special permit constitutes a violation. Section 11-12 provides an exemption for construction within permitted hours. Special permits for extended construction hours are available through the Coral Springs Police Department for up to 30 days (renewable) at a fee of $200. Sound levels from construction sites must also comply with the land-use-based limits in Section 11-14 Table 1.
Violations are enforced under Section 1-8.1 of the Coral Springs Code. Civil penalties up to $500 per violation. Each occurrence constitutes a separate offense. Violations are deemed a nuisance under Florida Statutes Chapter 60. Complaints are investigated by the Police Department or Code Enforcement.
