Industrial and commercial noise in Hollywood is regulated under Chapter 100 with specific decibel limits. Nonresidential properties must not exceed 80 dBA/dBC during peak hours or 75 dBA/dBC during off-peak hours. Noise measured at or beyond the property line of the receiving property is the enforcement standard.
The City of Hollywood Chapter 100 Noise Ordinance applies specific decibel limits to industrial and commercial operations. Nonresidential properties generating continuous noise may not exceed 80 dBA or 80 dBC during peak hours (7 AM to 10 PM Sunday through Thursday, 7 AM to 11 PM Friday and Saturday) or 75 dBA or 75 dBC during off-peak hours, measured at or beyond the property line. When noise from an industrial or commercial source affects a residential property, the residential limits apply (65 dBA day, 55 dBA night). Sound level measurements use a sound level meter providing proper representation, taken approximately five feet above ground at or beyond the property line. The City's Code Compliance Division enforces industrial noise complaints.
First violation: $100 fine. Second violation within 6 months: $500. Third and subsequent: $1,000 per occurrence. Extended hours licenses may be revoked.
