Hollywood is near Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). FAA rules preempt local aircraft noise regulation. The Broward County Aviation Department manages noise abatement programs for FLL.
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) is operated by the Broward County Aviation Department (BCAD) and sits partly within Hollywood's city limits. The airport maintains 11 permanent noise monitoring stations through its ANOMS system. The FAA approved FLL's Noise Compatibility Program Update on March 30, 2023, including Land Use Measure LU-3: a voluntary residential sound insulation program for eligible homes within the DNL 65+ dB contour. Many Hollywood neighborhoods east and west of the airport are within this contour. From 10 PM to 5 AM, all aircraft are encouraged to refrain from using Runway 10R/28L unless required by weather or safety. Hollywood residents may file noise complaints through BCAD. FAA preemption prevents local enforcement of aircraft noise regulations. The Noise Mitigation Program office (formerly in Dania Beach) now handles inquiries by email at RSI@Broward.org.
No local enforcement over aircraft noise due to federal FAA preemption. FLL noise complaints: BCAD at (954) 359-6100. Noise mitigation email: RSI@Broward.org.
