Prince George's County, MD Noise Ordinances: Vehicle Noise (2026)

Under County Code § 19-123(b)(5), motor vehicles on public roads are exempt from the Subtitle 19 noise limits, since on-road vehicle noise is regulated under Maryland state law. However, the county reaches vehicle-related noise on private property: § 19-122 lists sounding a horn or signaling device on a motor vehicle on private property (except in an emergency, or as a daytime danger-warning signal that meets the limits) as a prohibited act. The county also bars operating an off-road recreational vehicle, such as a dirt bike, ATV, go-cart, or snowmobile, on private property closer than 300 feet to a neighboring residence without the affected resident's written permission, unless it stays within the § 19-122(a) limits.
