At single-family homes you can use charcoal and propane grills in your yard year-round, even during burn bans. In apartments and condos, Florida's fire code bans charcoal and propane grills on balconies and within 10 feet of the building; only small listed electric grills are allowed.
Grilling in Seminole County follows the Florida Fire Prevention Code (NFPA 1). For one- and two-family dwellings, charcoal, gas, and electric grills are permitted, and above-ground grills stay legal even during a countywide burn ban. For other than one- and two-family dwellings (apartments and condos), no charcoal, gas, hibachi, or similar cooking device may be used or kindled on any balcony, under any overhang, or within 10 feet of the structure. Listed electric tabletop grills up to 200 square inches are the exception. Because LP-gas over one pound cannot be kept above the first floor, propane grills also cannot be stored on multifamily balconies.
Fire marshal and code enforcement can order immediate removal of prohibited grills from balconies and issue fire-code citations to residents or property managers.
