Quincy, MA Parking Rules: Abandoned Vehicles (2026)

Quincy bans abandoning any vehicle anywhere in the city, and a partially dismantled, wrecked or junked vehicle may never sit on a street or highway at all. On private property, owners, tenants and landlords get a 48-hour grace period before a nonoperating, wrecked, junked or discarded vehicle becomes a violation: the only exceptions are vehicles inside an enclosed building, on an active business's premises, or in a lawful storage depository. The Chief of Police or Commissioner of Public Works can impound an abandoned or violating vehicle, and if it isn't reclaimed within 48 hours it goes to a junkyard for disposal.
